 Corporate and Channel Computing Expo

Monday, July 18, 2005

Unlike prior shows in this time slot, C3 expo is about bringing corporate and channel buyers together under one roof with the computer industry's premier manufacturers and channel partners. This is a major industry event that can pay off big for the creators of C3 Expo, filling a much needed void in the industry.  It’s not going to be easy. In order to succeed they will need reinvent the prime time event slot from consumer looking for yo-yo’s and T-shirts, to top technology Executives and buyers looking to do big business. Billions of dollars worth of business is spent each year on technology. One step in the right direction will be to bring in Top CEO’s as key note presenters such as Bill Gates and have a pavilion set up for the consumers. This show has the potential of being larger than Comdex. For the first year they did great! Next years show June 27-29, 2006 New York City

Below you will find “C3 EXPO BEST OF SHOW” winners and their respective product categories include:

C3 2005 Best of Show Award: Consumer Product

CMS ABSmini

The CMS 2000 Backup Device is an easy-to-pocket storage device and backup device that was clocked at 4+megabytes/sec, and 264 megabytes per minute, providing the perfect solution for storing, transporting or backing up data files. It’s totally powered via USB 2.0, and worked on every machine in the ExtremeLabs facility. It has Microsoft Windows-based backup software included, but can be used with a Mac, Linux, or anything that recognizes a USB2.0 hard drive. The USB 2.0 connection provides the perfect solution for storing, transporting or backing up data files, music, photos or video.

C3 Best of Show Award: Communication Product/Service

Nortel BCM50 Communications System

The Nortel BCM50 is the size of a box of Cheerios, has a web-based interface and works as a phone. This phone-system-in-a-box from Nortel supports digital, analog, and VoIP telephony, and can be setup in literally minutes with all of the features normally found in expensive Centrex, keyswitch hybrids, and small PBXs. The key features are VoIP, auto attendant, voice mail, and plug-and-play integration.

C3 2005 Best of Show Award: SMB Product

Xerox Phaser 8550 Color Printer

Xerox printers have been a workhorse of small business for years, and the 8500/8550 creates a new metric: low-cost office printing at 30 pages per minute in either black/white or color. The Xerox Phaser printers provides a significant value and are compatible with Windows, MacOS, Linux, and other PostScript 3-compatible image producers through network connections. The 2400dpi images are crisp and clear, and the toner chemistry produces a very low cost per printed document. The Phaser 8500/8550 Series has a long duty cycle, as well as the ability to quickly and cleanly change its solid-toner to prevent downtime. Registration looks excellent, and colors are vivid on a wide variety of media, according to the judges.

C3 2005 Best of Show Award: Enterprise Product

NEC Sentrus Public Safety System

Introduced at the C3 event, this system provides a comprehensive public safety modular application framework for public safety dispatch, records management, case management, crime scene management, jail management, and automated field reporting functionality. Sentrus is a crime fighter that prevents incompatible software from causing difficulties for law enforcement and crime management, while streamlining and integrating intelligence. One strong feature in tough budgetary times is the product’s ability to allocate and predict departmental resource needs. Sentrus also partners with Topos for meshed WiFi-based geo-positioning of law enforcement resources. The judges suggest that you can expect to soon see the NEC Sentrus in CSI, the TV show.

C3 2005 Best of Show Award: Enterprise Service

Network Box

Network security and network management needs have spawned multiple independent industries, each of which protects a piece or component. Network Box collapses these myriad devices into a single set of appliances sized by traffic, and refocuses security, intrusion detection, and identity/encryption management into a single appliance. According to the judges, rarely have so many important security components been placed into one product so small. This updated device serves as a firewall, IDP, VPN service manager, anti-virus filter, anti-spam filter, mail agent, and web proxy service/analyzer in a graduated size of appliances. Fingertip analysis of the kinds of attacks and communications profiles make Network Box a genuine thrill for administrators that must now make sense of numerous security consoles, all of whom are ignorant of the other.

C3 2005 Best of Show Award: Best New Product

Cenzic Hailstorm

This product was first seen earlier this year. It conquers the problem of website vulnerability and integrity. By using the features Stateful Assessment and patented Fault Injection, Hailstorm protects applications and client data from behind load distributors to the very backend database and application servers that provide support to millions of users in many companies. Hailstorm is both a QA tool and a health analyzer for highly sophisticated website infrastructure.

As a quality assurance and audit tool, Hailstorm can be used to attack servers and services in hundreds of ways including Hailstorm’s ever fattening library of assaults, through to user/developer-defined attacks. In an era where users are getting scared away from the web and its tremendous business potential, Cenzic Hailstorm is a brilliant framework for testing, compliance analysis, regulatory audit, and high availability.
