Grandmaster Garry Kasparov

Wins Game #1 Against Deep Junior

The Computer is only as good as its software!

Tucked away in a quiet Room Garry Kasparov plays chess against Deep Blue.

Elliot Klein CEO X3D looks on at the action,

On the other side of the chess board from Kasparov, sits deep Blue Programmer Amir Ban. Amir Ban moves the computers pieces for the computer. Chief Match Arbiter Geurt Gijssen oversees the event.  F.I.D.E. President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov is also in the room.

After only a four hours, game #1 ended in victory for World chess champion Garry Kasparov. Garry defeated the computer program Deep Junior in no time flat. With 5 more games to go it doesn’t seem like Garry has anything to worry about.

Deep Junior took as long as 25 minutes to respond to Kasparov's attack.

Kasparov was able to move forward both his knights, which are among the most powerful pieces on the chess board, and two of his pawns to strategic central positions. At the same time, he left several of Deep Junior's pieces in less powerful positions. This gave Kasparov the advantage he needed. So will he be able to do it again?

Grand Master Maurice Ashley and Grandmaster Yasser Seirawan moderated the event.

This event turned out to be a Grand reunion for the biggest names in the chess world.

.

Many distinguished Grandmaster from around the world watched the event live with a crowd of sever hundred in New York City

Amy Harmon, Top Technology Reporter for the New York Times, found a nice quiet hideaway to knock out her story. Until I came along.
