Bill Gates and Jeff Raikes Launch Office 2003

Tuesday, October 21, 2003 In New York City

Once again I had the opportunity sit in the first row of this exciting launch.

Work Faster, collaborate better, and gain hours of improved productivity is the communiqué Bill Gates delivered at the Launch of Microsoft Office 2003

Microsoft created the basic operating system of the personal computer that for the past 20 years has revolutionized the way we create and communicate. Let's face it. The PC and the software that run it are the greatest inventions of this century. Without companies like Microsoft, Bell Labs (Lucent), Intel and IBM, the technology industry would never have advanced as far as it has.

Today, Microsoft products offer a comprehensive and integrated system of desktop programs, servers, and solutions. Having a suite of tools designed to work together is certainly better than trying to duplicate using random open source code.

Microsoft's new product, Office 2003, is a bit belated, since 2004 is just around the corner. But it is a refreshing win-win proposition for businesses and consumers. Since this is Microsoft's second most important bread-and-butter product, it hopes to generate revenues in the billions of dollars and stimulate the next round of growth in the technology sector.

Competition certainly stimulates growth in the marketplace. leading to today's advancements. However, Microsoft's third-party solution partners work together as a team to benefit everyone. Amazon.com, Dell, EMC, Intel, Siemens, and Xerox are just a few of the many companies working with Microsoft.
