INT Media Group, Inc. (Nasdaq: INTM) announced - June 21, 2002 -  that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire the assets of the Jupiter Research and Events businesses from Jupiter Media Metrix, Inc. (Nasdaq: JMXI) of New York City for $250,000 and the assumption of certain liabilities. The transaction is expected to close by July 31, 2002 and is subject to customary closing conditions, including the approval of Jupiter Media Metrix, Inc.'s stockholders. Effective immediately, INT Media Group, Inc. will assume responsibility for operating the Jupiter Research and Events businesses.

Alan M. Meckler, Chairman and CEO of INT Media Group

Mr. Meckler created a newsletter in October 1990 called Internet World. This founding was the first "content" play for the internet. Meckler went on to create through his company Mecklermedia (nasdaq:MECK), the Internet World trade shows (the fastest growing trade shows in trade show history - in terms of revenue and paid square feel). Meckermedia was acquired by Penton Media Inc (NYSE:PME) in November 1998 for $274 million in cash. This represented nearly a 1000% return from the IPO of February 1994. After the deal was completed, Meckler purchased an 80.1% interest in the Mecklermedia website internet.com. which became the independent internet.com Corporation. internet.com went public in June 1999 and currently trades on Nasdaq under the ticker symbol INTM.

Mr. Meckler has been in the publishing business since 1971. He created 27 newsletters, 15 database publications and published over 500 books in the fields of information technology, law, history, botany and literature. Meckler's specialty is spotting technology trends. He was reporting on optical disks and video disks in 1980, CD-ROMs in 1983. HDTV in 1987, Virtual Reality in 1989 and the Internet in 1990 (generally several years before the business press followed suit).

Mr. Meckler holds a BA, MA, Ph.D from Columbia University, Major in American History

His list of Publications include: The Draft and Its Enemies (University of Illinois Press, 1974), Oral History Collections (R.R.Bowker, 1975), Scholarly Micropublishing in America (Greenwood Press, 1980), How to Play Lotteries by Mail (Dell, 1986). He has had articles published in The New Yorker, The Times Literary Supplement and Publishing History.

 

               

Gene DeRose is Vice Chairman of Jupiter Media Metrix


Gene DeRose is Vice Chairman of Jupiter Media Metrix' board of directors, and also acts as an advisor to the company. Previously, he served as President of Jupiter Media Metrix. Previously, Mr. DeRose was Chairman and CEO of Jupiter Communications, directing the company's strategic vision, research operations and new business development. Mr. DeRose oversaw the growth of Jupiter since he arrived at the company in 1990 as research director, and is regarded as one of the most influential voices on the future of the Internet economy. Mr. DeRose is a board member of MOUSE, a nonprofit organization that provides volunteer technical manpower to New York City's public schools, and also serves on the Advisory Board of the Markle Foundation's E-mail For All campaign, an initiative that encourages the use of new communications technologies for socially beneficial purposes. Mr. DeRose received a B.A. in English Literature from the University of Virginia.

 Aram Sinnreich focuses on the programming and distribution of online media, with a special emphasis on music and entertainment.
Recently named one of the fifteen "Innovators and Influencers of 2001" by InformationWeek, Sinnreich is often quoted in media outlets such as The New York Times, Forbes, Billboard, The Wall Street Journal and CNET. He has appeared on ABC World News Tonight, The CBS Early Show with Bryant Gumbel, CNN, CNBC, BBC Radio and Fuji TV. Recently, he participated in a roundtable at Billboard's Dance Music Summit in
New York and keynoted Day 1 of Jupiter's Plug.In music conference. Sinnreich joined Jupiter Media Metrix in February 1997 and initially served as the editor of Jupiter's Interactive Content newsletter. Previously, he worked in journalism (publishing in The New York Times and producing for World Radio), Web design and as a professional musician.
Sinnreich earned his B.A. in English at
Wesleyan University and received a M.A. in journalism at Columbia University.

Congressman Rich Boucher 9TH District, Virgina

Congressman Rick Boucher is serving his tenth term in the U.S. House of Representatives representing Virginia's Ninth Congressional District.

Congressman Boucher is a member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, serving on two subcommittees - Telecommunications and the Internet; and Energy and Air Quality, of which he is the ranking member. He also sits on the House Judiciary Committee, serving on the Courts, the Internet and Intellectual Property Subcommittee. Since 1985, he has served as an Assistant Whip.

He originated the House Internet Caucus in 1996 and currently serves as one of two House co-chairman of the more than 170 member group. In that position he is a leading architect of federal policy for the Internet.

His first Internet related legislation, which became law in 1993, authorized electronic commerce by permitting for the first time messages with commercial content to traverse the Internet backbone.

His proposals to promote competition in the cable and local telephone industries are at the core of the Telecommunications Act of 1996, and he is currently authoring legislation which will establish fundamental federal policies for the Internet.

Congressman Boucher, a native of Abingdon, Virginia, where he currently resides, earned his bachelor's degree from Roanoke College and his law degree from the University of Virginia Law School. He has practiced law on Wall Street in New York and in Virginia. Prior to his election to Congress, he served for seven years as a member of the Virginia State Senate.
